Event Description
The governing body or academy trust has full responsibility for the school’s admission arrangements. This course will explain to governors their full legal responsibilities with regard to admission throughout the academic year as outlined in the School Admissions Code.

It will cover the statutory timescales and requirements, the admission application and allocation process (process and in year) and consultation requirements. This course is specifically aimed at governors of own admission authority schools.

  • the legal requirements for governors relating to admissions including the responsibilities of admission authorities, applications and allocation authorities and admission arrangements

  • oversubscription criteria – what you can and don’t do

  • withdrawing places
