Event Description
This is relevant for all governors, especially governors of schools/academies presently graded "Requires Improvement" (RI) or with a grading of Good and has not been inspected for a few years.

This session focuses on what governors can do to ensure that as school/academy leaders they are consistently good.


This session provides:

  • an overview of good leadership

  • opportunity to discuss exactly what is meant by consistent, high expectations, ambition and relentless

  • practical advice as to how governors can support key leaders and managers in securing good (and outstanding)

  • knowledge to address the type of action plan and priorities for governors that will underpin the journey to good

Governors will gain:


  • a clear understanding of their role as leaders in communicating high expectations and ambitions

  • understanding of how to model good practice and to monitor effectively

  • clear understanding of their role in the quality of teaching, raising achievement and the school curriculum

  • understanding of all pupils in their school and any associated barriers to learning
