Event Description
Fluency sessions – the what, why, when and how.
A day of training which includes a complete suite of resources to support teachers back in school. Schools are aware of the need to ensure pupils are ‘fluent’ with their mathematics knowledge and skills. Many are establishing fluency sessions (also known as maths meeting or everyday fluency) to support this, but what does an effective session look like?
This one-day course will unpick the purpose of fluency sessions and outline a possible structure. Resources will be given out on the day which schools can use as a starting point. The course also includes the resources for an introductory staff meeting for launching back in school, so that mathematics subject leaders can get going straight away with implementing the sessions. The course is timed so that teachers can trial the resources in the summer term and evaluate, ready for roll-out in September.
