This is our annual primary language event of the year. Delegates can listen to key speakers, be updated on the latest issues surrounding languages teaching in primary schools and, as always, have some time to network and share ideas.
This year Professor Florence Myers, Research Director and Chair of RiPL, will be delivering a session on Metalinguistic awareness and links to L1 Literacy, sharing key research findingswith delegates.
In addition, Sarah Schechter, Director, Routes into Languages East and Bye Fellow, Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, wil be speaking about the success of the national spelling bee competition for secondary schools and the launch of a competition for the primary phase.
Sue Cave will be presenting her session ‘Grammar Moves’. Sue will demonstrate tried and tested activities for developing grammatical understanding relating to the KS2 targets of the MFL Programme of Study. The emphasis will be on progression from word to sentence level both orally and written. Activities include either movement or a kinaesthetic element, designed to engage learners actively and creatively.
