This practical and informative programme is led by colleagues currently working in special schools alongside HfL’s SEND advisers. Delivered across three days spread over the academic year this course can be tailored to meet the needs of the delegates and reflect the schools they are working in.
Recent delegates have commented on how they have valued the opportunity to discuss and share issues relevant to being an NQT in a special school. Day one will provide delegates with an essential overview of the NQT year and the opportunity to focus on broad special school issues including exploring technology to use with children with complex special educational needs.
In recent years, topics have included: supporting learners with apps, iPADs and other technologies, exploring how to make effective use of visual cues and other classroom strategies and making best use of assessment systems.
By attending the course, participants will:
- be introduced to the support systems offered in Hertfordshire for NQTs have the opportunity to meet regularly with other NQTs to share ideas develop their knowledge, skills and confidence by exploring good practice with experienced special school teachers.
