Event Description
This two-day course is aimed at teachers new to the role of science subject leader, those who want to develop confidence or those aspiring to take on this role. The course will provide participants with an overview of the role in terms of monitoring, evaluating and developing science teaching and learning in primary settings.

Learning outcomes
By attending the course, participants will: 

  • have a clear understanding of the role of a science subject leader

  • understand how evidence from a variety of sources can be used to self evaluate current standards in science teaching and learning

  • understand how to use self- evaluation to create a comprehensive subject action plan including how to monitor and evaluate the impact of actions and gain understanding of the requirements of the science National Curriculum

  • understand the need to monitor pupil progress

  • review best practice in teaching and learning and assessment in science and explore ideas for raising the profile of science
