Event Description
New for 2019-20, this half-day follow up session is provided for a strictly limited number of delegates who have attended the autumn session of our Assessing and Securing GDS in Year 6 writing course. The same advisers from the English and Assessment teams will deliver the session.
Across the morning, delegates will have the opportunity to explore their pupils’ progress in writing in light of the earlier training and be supported to evaluate areas of strength and areas for further development.
This session will provide plenty of scope for professional discussion around Year 6 writing and progress towards the greater depth standard, as well as the opportunity to share in good practice across a range of settings.
Places are strictly limited in order to facilitate tightly focused professional dialogue and guidance.
Learning outcomes
By attending the course, participants will:
- review pupils’ progress towards the Year 6 greater depth writing standard
- discuss examples of work from pupils who might be considered working at greater depth in Year 6 in writing, exploring what makes good writing evidence
- consider how to use the remaining time available to both secure the learning required and help pupils to demonstrate it in their work
- formulate outline plans for further writing opportunities that provide scope for achievement of the greater depth standard
Additional Information
Delegates must bring writing from a pupil or pupils that they consider to be on track to be assessed as ‘working at greater depth’ at the end of Key Stage 2 / Year 6 for writing.
