Hear from Primary Languages experts and cultural agencies to identify steps to improve the teaching of primary languages in your school.

Herts for Learning will be delivering the Primary Leaders of Languages Conference digitally this year. The conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to listen to guest speakers and receive key updates on the latest issues surrounding languages teaching in primary schools.

David Moss, English and Modern Foreign Languages Adviser at BEST Midlands Education Associates, will be opening the conference delivering his keynote entitled: The Grammar Toolkit Project
This presentation will look at how the same terminology can be used in the teaching of English and Modern Languages within primary schools. Delegates will learn of how to support pupils in making links and comparisons between languages as they develop their understanding of language learning.

Francesca Pini, founder of Language Angels, will be delivering a keynote entitled: Progression in Primary Languages
This session will detail how to use the KS2 programme of study attainment targets to help build progression into primary foreign language teaching. The session will also look at how the attainment targets link to key language learning skills and how to help pupils develop and progress them.

In addition there will be a updates and sessions from:

  • Laly Alsono, Primary MFL Adviser at the Consejería de Educación, the Education Office of the Spanish Embassy

This full-day online event has been planned to keep delegates engaged and motivated from start to finish and provide them with:
