Event Description
Not all children that join early education will have positive early experiences. Consequently, often this impacts on their ability to settle into their nursery or reception class and can hinder their attention to learning and limit progress.

This course will help delegates to understand the impact that difficult starts in life can have on children’s brain development and on their capacity to become effective learners. It will provide delegates with tools and strategies to help children to settle, integrate fully and feel confident so that they can begin to thrive and make better progress in their learning.
Training objectives

  • to understand how difficult life experiences can impact on children’s brain development and their ability to learn

  • to learn about attachment theory and how insecure attachments can affect children’s ability to form relationships

  • to consider a range of tools and strategies that will help children to overcome barriers that exist because of insecure attachments

Learning outcomes

  • knowledge of attachment disorders and their impact on a child’s ability to learn

  • confidence to use a range of tools and strategies to support children from disadvantaged and vulnerable backgrounds to make better progress in their learning and development
