Event Description
This webinar forms part of a series of informative and interactive Post-16 Recovery Curriculum webinars focused on helping provide continued support for post-16 leaders and practitioners during the lockdown period.

All sessions are hosted by experts in their field, designed to support schools in ensuring young people can demonstrate their learning, skills and knowledge across the curriculum, and prioritise the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of post-16 learners.

Session 5: Improving bereavement support

In this live webinar Pat Sowa blends her expertise as a former head and Mental Health and Wellbeing Trainer to explore bereavement in a way which is both practical and sensitive.

Over 90% of teachers do not have any formal bereavement training and yet many schools have families who are working through grief – the death of a student, parent, staff or family member. The Covid Lockdown means that grief may be delayed or more complicated and this can impact on all aspects of life and learning without effective support.

This session is packed with insight and will give delegates skills and core knowledge of bereavement to support students and peers with a consistent and compassionate approach. The skills learnt can be applied at individual level or as a whole school approach.

Training objectives
Learning objectives – delegates will:

• Develop a working knowledge of bereavement in adults and children
• Know what to look out for
• Explore helpful things to do or say
