This course provides an opportunity to reflect upon starting point assessments for nursery and reception class children. We strongly advise that you continue to judge entry points against the Early Years outcomes for nursery and reception class children for September 2020.

This session will support consistency of judgements across schools and support a holistic approach to individual children’s starting points, identifying any gaps in development. The curriculum and provision can then reflect the needs of cohorts. The webinar will include any updates from the new initiatives.
Training objectives

  • to support Early Years practitioners to feel confident to make accurate starting point assessments for nursery and reception class children

Learning outcomes
By attending this course, participants will:

  • receive updates on attainment and progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage

  • take part in a joint moderation task

  • gain peer-to-peer support for moderation

  • agree accuracy of assessment

Additional Information
Practitioners should have access to his or her own children’s learning journals or evidence to support learning
