Event Description
Some children find it difficult to communicate or use words to express how they are feeling. It is important to know that children are communicating something through their behaviour throughout every day, even if they are not aware of it.

This webinar will better equip practitioners with their understanding about children's behaviour, in particular why children present some behaviours in the way they do. Even if this may be problematic or inappropriate, it may be sign that a child is upset and that something is not right. Strategies to help respond to children’s emotional and behavioural needs will be explored through this session.

Practitioners will learn how to make adaptations and explore effective approaches on how best to support all children to engage in their learning during these challenging times.
Training objectives

  • to recognise that young children need support to understand their emotions

  • to understand that communication will be expressed through behaviour

  • to identify needs of children and triggers of challenging behaviour

  • to develop a knowledge of strategies to support young children with self-regulation

Learning outcomes

  • reflect on current research and practice regarding the impact of behaviour that poses barriers to learning

  • understand that behaviour is a form of communication and how to effectively support this

  • gain some practical ideas that can be used in the classroom to engage all learners
