Event Description
Hygge is a word from the Danish culture that is now becoming familiar to us. Hygge broadly describes a sense of comfort and cosiness that can engender a sense of wellbeing. We know that secure and happy children will be ready to learn, so we will share elements of Hygge to support the wellbeing of children in our EYFS learning environments.

Supporting and nurturing children’s emotional security is imporant so that they build their resilience and a positive attitude to learning. It is vital that we acknowledge the uniqueness of every child and tailor the way we respond and nurture these broad-ranging needs.

This training will provide opportunities for practitioners to reflect on their current practice and to be inspired by new ideas that will promote the wellbeing of our children whilst also supporting and fuelling a love of learning.
Training objectives

  • to provide practitioners with knowledge of theories that underpin the principles of Hygge

  • to support practitioners in understanding the importance of providing a supportive learning environment in the EYFS

  • to equip practitioners with a wealth of inspirational ideas to create an inspirational environment for learning

Learning outcomes

  • consider the importance of the learning environment in supporting the wellbeing of young children

  • understand the theories of Hygge that support the development of a high-quality, nurturing and cosy indoor learning environment

  • develop ideas for improving indoor provision to embrace elements of Hygge
