Essentials for safe staffing for the designated safeguarding person (DSP)
Learning outcomes
The aims of this course are to:
- recognise the role and responsibilities of the designated lead person for safe staffing
- develop knowledge of safe recruitment practices, including the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
- understand how to manage allegations made against staff, including referral process to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
- increase knowledge of online safety and share key messages with staff and parents
- ensure safe staffing practice embedded, including current staffing guidance around COVID-19 applicable to early years settings
Additional Information
This course is only suitable for practitioners working in Early Years settings registered on Ofsted Early Years, childcare and voluntary registers (i.e. NOT suitable for maintained settings or childminders).
