Joining the dots through effective collaboration has never been more important for children and young people with SEND than it is now. Professionals and families working together are much better placed to ensure children and young people receive the support they need in order to make a fulfilling transition to adulthood.
This year’s conference explores this concept further and reflects on the impact Covid19 is having on children and young people with SEND. The conference will offer SENCOs and other school leaders a valuable opportunity to explore, discuss and reflect upon key messages, current research and thinking in order to strengthen practice in their own setting.
This year Herts for Learning will be welcoming David Bartram OBE to provide the opening keynote speech and Sharon Gray OBE who will be delivering a keynote on the recovery curriculum.
David has led special education needs and disability provision in London schools for over 15 years. He has worked closely with the Department for Education to develop SEND policy and was an expert advisor to the Timpson Review on school exclusions. In addition to the keynote address David will also be delivering a workshop.
Sharon is an active member of the SEND London Leadership Strategy team working to secure positive outcomes for children and young people experiencing SEND.
Closing the conference will be Sally Gardner, Sally is a muti-award winning novelist who has sold over 2 million books within the UK. Her novel Maggot Moon (2012) won both the Costa Children's Book Prize and the Carnegie Medal 2013, awarded by the UK’s librarians. Sally will be delivering a motivational keynote looking at her journey through school and how she overcame challenges to become an award winning novelist.
