Event Description
Linking science and English can motivate and engage both pupils and teachers. In this course we will explore how meaningful links can be made between the two subjects to provide pupils with the opportunity to develop, apply and consolidate their English skills in science, whilst deepening science understanding.
Training objectives

  • to explore good practice in the teaching and learning of both science and English

  • to reflect on the importance of developing spoken language

  • to review how using science as a context excites and engages pupils in writing

Learning outcomes
By attending this course, participants will:


  • reflect on strategies to develop discussion in science

  • explore quality texts which can be used to stimulate enquiry, give context to science learning and engage pupils in reading and stories

  • consider how pupils can apply English skills and share scientific understanding in a range of creative ways
