This course provides an opportunity to reflect upon ongoing assessments for Nursery and Reception class children. We strongly advise that practitioners continue to judge attainment against the Early Years outcomes for Nursery and Reception class children within their 2020/21 cohorts.

This session will support consistency of judgements across schools and support a holistic approach to individual children’s assessment and identifying any gaps in development. Practitioners' curriculum and provision can then reflect the needs of their cohorts. The webinar will include any updates from the new EYFS reforms.
Training objectives

  • to support Early Years practitioners to feel confident to make accurate assessments for Nursery and Reception class children

Learning outcomes
By attending this training, participants will:

  • receive updates on attainment and progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage, including the EYFS reforms

  • take part in a joint moderation task

  • gain peer-to-peer support for moderation

  • agree accuracy of assessment

Practitioners should have access to his or her own children’s learning journals or evidence to support learning and use as a basis for this discussion.
