Event Description
'Selling your subject' training is aimed at all current and aspiring primary school subject leaders. It has been designed to help subject leaders improve their understanding of the new Ofsted inspection framework and how this potentially impacts on their work.
The training focuses on developing subject leaders’ skills to ensure their subject is effectively monitored and led in a timely way. Delegates will be empowered to talk confidently about their subject to a range of audiences, including Ofsted inspectors.
This development programme includes:
The training focuses on developing subject leaders’ skills to ensure their subject is effectively monitored and led in a timely way. Delegates will be empowered to talk confidently about their subject to a range of audiences, including Ofsted inspectors.
This development programme includes:
- a set of short pre-course tasks
- three contact sessions
- focused gap tasks between each contact session
Training objectives
To improve subject leaders’ understanding of the Ofsted quality of education criteria and the implications for their subject.
Learning outcomes
The subject leader will develop their knowledge and understanding of:
- how to plan out the curriculum
- a deep dive and subject leader’s role within it
- how to gather evidence effectively
- how to develop effective questioning as part of monitoring
- how to develop colleagues’ expertise
- how to effectively share key information about their subject to a range of audiences
Additional Information
Delegates should bring copies of their current curriculum overviews and/or long term planning for the subject they are responsible for, subject leader folders (if they have these), a copy of the National Curriculum and few pupils’ books (E.g. from a year group they are familiar with in their subject).
