This two-part course (one short day and one full day) is for new or aspiring SENCO/INCOs and will provide reassurance and pointers for first steps in the role. This course also provides an excellent foundation for the more advanced National Award for SEN Coordination.
Both days of the course will be delivered by webinar. The first half-day session will explore the principles of the SEND code of practice: 0-25 years, and also statutory requirements for schools. There will be a range of follow-up activities in order to prepare for day two.
The second day will offer practical ideas to support delegates in ensuring that children and young people with SEND make good progress. This will include a section on providing high-quality provision and improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. Later in the day, guests from Hertfordshire statutory SEND team and from Hertfordshire Educational Psychology Service will join the sessions to introduce their services and guide new SENCOs on working proactively and collaboratively with others.
