Event Description
This course is for teachers who are new to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in September or have recently moved to the EYFS.

This is an interactive and motivating course to introduce colleagues to the EYFS.
Training objectives

  • to understand the statutory framework for the EYFS and associated non-statutory guidance

  • to learn about the key components of effective Early Years provision including environment, daily routine and adult/child interactions

  • to understand the assessment processes in the EYFS that support children’s on-going progress and guide further improvements to practice in order to meet children’s needs most effectively

Learning outcomes

  • understand the statutory requirements of the EYFS

  • reflect upon the importance of the EYFS learning environment, both indoors and outdoors

  • consider the daily routines appropriate in Nursery and Reception classes

  • establish strategies for adults to support an appropriate balance between adult-directed and child-initiated learning

  • understand the adult's role in the EYFS
