Event Description
Effective Early Years education relies on leaders and practitioners that understand the importance of a relevant curriculum, a responsive environment and the development of play.

This course is designed to provide headteachers and senior leaders who are new to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with an understanding of the requirements of the EYFS statutory framework and the key constituents of sound Early Years pedagogy. This course aims to help leaders in monitoring the EYFS and to be able to support EYFS colleagues most effectively.
Training objectives

  • to understand the structure and the requirements of the EYFS statutory framework and associated non-statutory guidance, including specific safeguarding and welfare requirements

  • to understand effective learning through play and the appropriate balance of adult-planned activities and child-initiated learning

  • to consider effective monitoring practice what is most helpful to look for and why

Learning outcomes

  • a clear understanding of the statutory framework for the EYFS

  • a clearer understanding of how to recognise strong practice in Nursery and Reception classrooms

  • confidence to support and challenge work to improve standards in the EYFS
