Event Description
This course is essential for any teacher new to teaching Year 2, or returning to teach in Year 2. Delegates will explore the statutory requirements for assessing children’s attainment in the core subjects at Key Stage 1 this year and consider strategies for supporting pupils in their learning journey towards achieving the expected standards.

Led by the lead moderator for KS1, this course will thoroughly unpick the requirements for the teacher assessment of reading, writing, maths and science and consider how to incorporate relevant assessment opportunities into teaching.

Delegates will also explore how the use of Herts for Learning assessment resources can support the rapid identification of any gaps in learning, track pupils’ progress and support planning and teaching throughout the year. (These materials are non-statutory and some schools may have adopted a different approach to assessment. The course will still be relevant even if this is the case.)

Although delivered online, delegates will have opportunities to interact. There will be several breaks from the screen during the day.
