Event Description
This workshop has combined two previous workshops – cultural capital and equality and diversity.

It is an opportunity for practitioners who did not attend these workshops to hear these important messages and how they can shape practice in early years settings.
Training objectives
Learning outcomes
The aims of the workshop are to:

  • understand cultural capital

  • explore strategies to gather children’s cultural capital

  • review equality and diversity in an early years setting

  • explore unconscious bias and how this affects practice

The workshop will explore the meaning of cultural capital and how practitioners can gather the information they need to meet all children’s needs.

It will share what equality for all types of families like and will share families' experiences, and what settings can do to make all families feel welcomed, understood and seen.

It will explore what unconscious bias might look like in an early years setting and how to make all staff aware so that all children get an equal start to their education.

The workshop will inform the curriculum which aims for all children to succeed, with a focus on developing the life skills they need, regardless of circumstances and experiences.
