Event Description
For mathematics subject leaders who want to increase their impact and articulate their leadership contribution. Leaders may either be new to the role or are looking to develop their confidence in leading and improving maths across the school.

This year-long CPD, over five sessions, focuses both on leadership qualities and skills and maths subject knowledge and pedagogy.

Throughout the course, delegates will gain an in-depth understanding of the expectations of core subject leadership. Delegates will develop their capacity to evaluate teaching and learning across a range of evidence to drive improvement throughout the school.

The key elements of mathematics subject leadership will be explored through a spotlight on each of the different aims of the mathematics curriculum: fluency, reasoning and problem-solving. This will enable subject leaders to deepen subject-specific knowledge and understanding.
Training objectives
Learning outcomes

  • examine the role of the subject leader

  • discuss how to proactively drive progress and improvements in mathematics

  • consider how to embed systems that will allow them to manage the challenges and create opportunities to drive standards forward

  • consolidate learning through a variety of school-based gap tasks that deepen understanding of subject-specific content and explore strategies for promoting the aims of the maths curriculum across the school

  • create a valuable evidence base for accurate school self-evaluation
