Event Description
This course will support Year 1 and Year 2 teachers in helping their pupils achieve the national standard at the end of Key Stage 1 by modifying teaching to accelerate learning so that pupils maximise their potential. This will include tackling the key mathematical concepts that pupils find tricky and exploring teaching strategies to guide them towards success. Delegates will be given practical strategies and resources to develop thinking and reasoning, including using practical maths resources in the classroom.

Grappling with the aims and content within the Key Stage 1 curriculum and the Teacher Assessment Framework (TAF), it is increasingly important to understand what age-related expectations should look like. The course will look at the TAF for use from 2018/19 onwards to ensure that teachers are ready to adapt the learning appropriately. The training has been adapted in line with updates to DfE guidance.

A live launch webinar will take place on Monday 27th September at 3:45pm to introduce delegates to the materials, support with access to the CPD hub and to answer any questions. Pre-recorded materials will then be available following the session until the second live webinar that will take place on Monday 18th October at 3:45pm to allow delegates to ask questions, discuss the training content and reflect on implementation in the classroom with Key Stage 1 class teachers and a member of the Herts for Learning maths team.

Both live webinars will take place on MS Teams.
