This course will look at the impact of positive relationships on the whole child; their behaviour, their sense of belonging and their ability to learn successfully. Through positive relationships, emotional and trusted bonds can be built, supporting pupils to feel secure, confident and ready to learn. Challenging behaviours or periods of crisis can lead to break-downs in relationships with peers and staff unless there is a trusted foundation to help everyone reset.

As practitioners, it is our responsibility to foster and nurture positive relationships by modelling and through effective delivery of the PSHE and RSHE curriculum. Helping to build the skills pupils need to recognise positive relationships, how to build and maintain them is a key priority to supporting wellbeing.
Training objectives

  • understanding behaviours and what triggers them

  • building positive relationships with pupils and maintaining them

  • identifying our own triggers and how we self-regulate at challenging times

  • through the RSHE curriculum developing pupils abilities to build a positive relationship with them self and with others

Learning outcomes

  • good understanding of how behaviour is influenced by experiences and relationships

  • an understanding of ourselves as practitioners and how we respond to crisis situations in the educational setting

  • tools to build positive relationships with pupils

  • strategies to support pupils ‘bounce back’ when relationships go wrong

  • strategies to support pupils make positive relationships with others

The cost of this training is £69 (excluding VAT) per delegate.

This course dovetails with the course 'A solution-focussed approach to improve behaviour for learning and relationships' on 24th March 2022 – we would recommend attendance at both, but each course can also stand alone.
