Event Description
This two-part course will provide delegates with an opportunity to explore how to tackle unconscious bias in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in relation to race, culture, gender and disability.
The training will help delegates unpick the importance of embedding equality and diversity into practice and provision which will enable every child to be represented, respected and able to thrive.
These sessions will explore gender stereotyping, appropriate language around gender and disability and celebrating diversity of race and culture without being tokenistic. Delegates will also consider what anti-racist practice looks like in the EYFS.

Training objectives
- to consider how unconscious bias impacts practice and attainment in the EYFS
- to provide delegates with an opportunity to be reflective of their own unconscious bias and how they can be changed
- to access strategies to support the implementation of anti-racist and gender diverse practice to enable every child to achieve their full potential
Learning outcomes
- recognise what unconscious bias is and how it impacts their practice
- introduction to a bank of research based, practical strategies to enable inclusive practice to be fully embedded
- develop an understanding of how anti-racist and gender neutral practice will remove limits on children’s learning and development
