This course has been developed in response to raised expectations for spelling in the current curriculum.
It aims to support Key Stage 2 teachers to gain a deeper understanding of the spelling system and how to prioritise next steps for individuals, in order to accelerate their progress and confidence.
The course explores the issue of how to manage differentiating provision in an increasingly demanding classroom environment. During the day, we will unpick the aspects of spelling that often hold pupils back, and we will then look at approaches to support pupils' understanding in these areas.
A range of strategies and resources for planning, teaching and assessment will be provided.
