Event Description
This course, aimed at NQTs teaching Years 1 or 2, is designed to cover the key components of summative assessment, including using criteria to assess pupils' learning and plan appropriate next steps, incorporating good assessment opportunities into teaching and reporting to parents about pupils’ achievement.

During the course, delegates will gain experience of assessing pupils’ work, using the criteria developed by Herts for Learning, which are based upon the National Curriculum. This course is most suitable to NQTs and those teachers early in their career.

This course would also suit overseas trained teachers, those returning to teaching or moving key stage.

By attending the course participants will gain:

  • an understanding of the progress in skills in the core subjects of English, mathematics and science strategies for incorporating good assessment opportunities into everyday teaching

  • to inform teacher assessment judgements opportunities to work with colleagues to moderate judgements in reading, writing and mathematics an insight into key principles regarding communicating with parents about pupils’ achievement
