Event Description
Computer technology has long been used, in schools and beyond, to support pupils with SEND. With the emergence of tablets and the many exciting and engaging apps available, there are now even more ways in which technology can help these pupils to learn, using the full functionality of these devices. In this hands-on course, we will explore ways in which tablets (particularly iPads) can be used to support the learning of pupils with SEND. We will look at how to make iPads inclusive, and apps specifically designed for these learners. We will also look at how 'general' educational apps can be used in alternative ways to support individual pupils as they work in the classroom, utilising sound recording, images and video.

This half-day course will give delegates time to explore and consider the potential of the tools for particular pupils within their own setting.

By attending the course, participants will:

  • look at how to make iPads more accessible to pupils through the accessibility settings

  • explore a range of apps specifically designed to support learners with SEND

  • have hands-on experience with general multimedia apps, which can be used to support individual pupils/students in a variety of engaging ways, including the use of Social Stories™
