Event Description
Science provides rich real-life opportunities to use and develop a wide range of mathematical skills beyond representing data. Making these links can raise the profile of enquiry within both subjects, engage pupils and teachers and provide rich assessment opportunities. During the day delegates will have the opportunity to explore four whole-school science and maths activities and will leave with all the resources needed to run these in school.

In order to have the greatest impact both maths and science leaders are invited to attend. To make this more affordable the second delegate from the same school will be charged half the day rate for attending.
Training objectives
Learning outcomes
By attending the course, participants will:

  • gain ideas for ensuring there are strong and purposeful links between science and mathematics

  • explore how to plan enquiry activities across the school which develop both scientific and mathematical skills

  • reflect on progression of mathematical and science skills

  • consider how to use science activities to provide opportunities for application and assessment of mathematical skills
