Venue

Course categories
Academies and Schools (including EYFS)
Event Description
Many pupils lack resilience in mathematics. Teaching assistants can make a real difference to improve this.
This two-hour practical session will support TAs to develop pupils’ resilience in mathematics.
Delegates will leave with a range of practical strategies that they can use to:
• support problem-solving
• teach pupils to sustain their focus when asked to think for themselves
• improve pupil’s confidence and understanding of fractions.
The local cluster training is repeated in morning and afternoon sessions so as many TAs as possible can benefit.
Learning outcomes
By attending this session delegates will:
• develop strategies that can be used to develop resilience in pupils’ mathematical learning every day
• explore approaches to routine and non-routine problem solving
• ensure improved pupils’ reasoning is at the heart of the TA role
• effective and flexible use of teaching assistants for differentiation
