Event Description
This webinar course is designed for newly qualified teachers and those who wish to develop their subject knowledge and confidence in order to teach gymnastics and dance within the primary physical education curriculum.

The webinar will be spilt into the below two sessions:
Webinar 1: Safe practice in teaching PE in the Primary school with a focus on gymnastics (9.30-11.00)
Webinar 2: Introduction to planning and teaching dance in the primary school (13.30-15.00)

There will be interactive elements with opportunities for discussion and questions. Participants will leave with new creative ideas and resources to support their teaching and ensure pupil progression across both key stages.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will have:



  • an understanding of the requirements of the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1 and 2, focusing specifically on gymnastics and dance



  • explored what makes a good lesson and how to plan successive lessons that ensure progression and challenge

  • an increased understanding of ways by which to improve and assess the quality of teaching and learning

  • observed video clips of a lesson and participated in interactive activities with a focus on gymnastics and dance



  • considered health and safety issues in PE
