A live webinar to support practitioners in completing the transition level of need tool.

Transition will be different for all children in September 2020. We all have a shared responsibility to ensure all children receive a smooth transition to school and enable their early education experience to contribute to their future success. It is even more vital that all practitioners, in schools and PVI settings, work together to share information to support the transition for children this year.

The transition level of need criteria and tool will help support this process of information sharing and all schools and PVI settings are requested to complete this tool.

Training objectives
Learning outcomes

  • use the level of need criteria to identify potential barriers on entry to school for individual children

  • complete the level of need tool for children moving to school (nursery school, nursery class and reception class)

  • share the level of need tool completed with children's information with the receiving school

  • collate the information received on the children joining the school in September 2020

  • send an overview of the information received to Herts for Learning

  • plan to support the needs of individual children identified to require intensive, personalised or targeted support
