Training objectives
Learning outcomes
This course supports you to:

  • understand your role and responsibilities as designated safeguarding lead for child protection

  • update your awareness of significant harm and indicators of abuse

  • know the procedure for reporting suspected abuse

  • develop knowledge of the role of assessment, planning and review and recognise your role within multi-agency working

  • have an understanding of relevant legislation and guidance relating to safeguarding children

  • understand the process for reporting allegations made against staff

  • develop knowledge of Herts Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) procedures and website support

Additional Information
This course is only suitable for practitioners working in Early Years settings registered on Ofsted Early Years, childcare and voluntary registers (i.e. NOT suitable for maintained settings or childminders). The pre-course requirements are that delegates have attended a basic introduction to child protection course within the past 4 years and have the role of designated person within their setting.
