Event Description
This remote training, delivered in one day over four webinars, is essential for any teacher new to teaching Year 6, or returning to teach in Year 6. Delegates will explore the statutory requirements for assessing pupil’s attainment in the core subjects at Key Stage 2 this year and consider strategies for supporting pupils in their learning journey towards achieving the expected standards.

Led by the lead moderator for KS2 writing, this course will thoroughly unpick the requirements for the teacher assessment of writing, as well as how to prepare pupils for reading and maths SATs.

Delegates will also explore how the Herts for Learning assessment resources (the HfL writing year group Teacher Assessment Frameworks (TAFs), new HfL reading year group ‘TAFs’ and HfL maths diagnostic tasks and assessment tasks) can support the rapid identification of any gaps in learning, track pupils’ progress and support planning and teaching throughout the year. (These materials are non-statutory and some schools may have adopted a different approach to assessment. The course will still be relevant even if that is the case.)
