Event Description
This training is aimed at mathematics subject leaders who are either new to the role or looking to enhance their contribution to improving maths across the school.

Throughout the course, delegates will gain an in-depth understanding of the expectations of core subject leadership. Delegates will develop their capacity to evaluate teaching and learning across a range of evidence to drive improvement throughout the school.

The key elements of mathematics subject leadership will be explored through a spotlight on each of the different aims of the mathematics curriculum: fluency, reasoning and problem solving. This will enable subject leaders to deepen subject-specific knowledge and understanding.

This course will comprise of a suite of pre-recorded modules and live webinars that are strategically spaced out across the academic year. Dependent on guidance, later sessions may be delivered face to face.

Session 1: Live webinar –10am-12pm Thursday 24th September, after this webinar pre-recorded modules will be available from the 24th September  – 16th October.

Session 2: Live webinar – 4pm 3rd December.  Pre-recorded materials will be available before this date.
 
Session 3: Live webinar – 4pm 25th February 2021. Pre-recorded materials will be available before this date.

Session 4: Thursday 25th March 2021.

Session 5: Thursday 1st July 2021.
Training objectives
Learning outcomes
By attending the training, participants will: 

• be able to examine the role of the subject leader to in proactively drive progress and improvements in mathematics
• be able to embed systems that will allow them to manage the challenges and create opportunities to drive standards forward
• be able to consolidate their learning through a variety of school-based gap tasks that deepen their understanding of subject-specific content and explore strategies for promoting the aims of the maths curriculum across the school
• be able to create a valuable evidence base for school self-evaluation
