Event Description
Attending this course will enable subject leaders to gain a full understanding of how the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is organised and how it links to the National Curriculum and support understanding of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework requirements and process.

The course will strengthen leaders' confidence to fulfil their monitoring responsibilities in the EYFS and will support them in raising standards across the school.
Training objectives
• to establish a clear understanding of the purpose and structure of the EYFS statutory framework and how this links with the National Curriculum
• to understand the principles of implementing a play-based curriculum balanced with adult-led activity
• to understand ways in which EYFS teachers assess progress and attainment of children
• to understand the types of activity that are most appropriate for subject leaders in order to successfully fulfil their monitoring role in the EYFS
Learning outcomes
• a clear understanding of the early years curriculum and how it links to the National Curriculum
• knowledge of how EYFS teachers and practitioners assess children’s attainment and progress
• confidence to be able to monitor and evaluate national curriculum subject areas within the EYFS
