Event Description
How can we engage parents and enable them to support their children’s maths learning?

This digital CPD will take place over one day, including two live webinars and pre-recorded modules to watch in between.

We know that the support of parents can make a difference to children’s success in maths and building an effective parent partnership is valuable.

There are many models and ways to engage parents and to help them support their children at home. Over the day, we will enable reflection on current provision and enable delegates to make choices about the best way to engage and support their parents.

The course will include easy-to-implement ideas and materials for each year group which could be used as part of home learning straight away. Further materials that could be used and adapted for parent sessions, for example on play-based mathematical learning with younger children and learning multiplication tables, will be included.
Training objectives
Learning outcomes

  • to consider the importance and impact of successful parent partnerships and ways to engage parents

  • to explore a range of home learning opportunities in maths

  • to consider the areas of maths where parental engagement could have a significant impact on pupil learning

  • to consider how materials provided could be developed and used to support home learning

  • to consider the implementation of the above, tailored to the school setting
