The revised EYFS and Development Matters - what this means in practice
Early Years Leaders / Early Years Practitioners
Early Years PVI Settings
The revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) will become statutory from September 2021. This includes revisions to the educational programmes and changes to safeguarding and welfare requirements. The educational programmes have also been revised as part of these reforms with the introduction of the non-statutory ‘Development Matters’ guidance.
Find out more about how these changes inform your curriculum design and daily practice and provision.
By attending this training, practitioners will:
- gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of how to adapt practice to address the forthcoming statutory changes in the EYFS
- reflect and consider how to best use the non-statutory ‘Development Matters’ guidance
- understand how this promotes high quality education and care for all children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds
- plan ahead for September 2021, reviewing priorities and practice and staff development needs
Delegates should have available the Statutory Framework for the EYFS (Early Adopter Version July 2020) and Development Matters - non-statutory Curriculum Guidance for the EYFS (September 2020).
