An opportunity for heads of department, as a group, to address the ‘Coming back stronger’ agenda.
What have we learned from the last eighteen months? What did we learn about GCSE and ‘A’-level assessment? How has our understanding developed of how students learn in mathematics? Are there any innovations we want to keep?
Most important of all, in the light of our collective experiences, how can we build our departments back to be better than they were before the pandemic.
This will be a valuable opportunity for heads of maths, with the guidance and input of HfL’s specialist advisers, to work together, share ideas, and develop a clear vision for great maths teaching in the post-COVID world.

- how our improved knowledge of the assessment process can inform the way we prepare students for GCSE and ‘A’-level in the future
- how to get our Year 11 and Year 13 students back on track in time for June 2022
- in light of the experience of the last eighteen months, develop a vision of what great maths teaching looks like, and a plan for how to make that vision a reality
