This popular, interactive and exciting programme run by the Early Years team supports NQTs in the Early Years Foundation Stage through a tailor made programme.

It consists of four full days spread over the academic year that cover essential aspects to support the development of high-quality practice and provision.

A final session at the end of the programme consists of an interactive webinar on 25th June 2020 that will enable the opportunity for Q&A with an EY adviser following reflection of the year. Options for CPD are available for NQTs that start in the spring term.

This new course aims to support Key Stage 2 teachers gain a deeper understanding of how children learn to spell and how to manage differentiation in an increasingly demanding classroom environment.

During the day, we will unpick the aspects of spelling that often hold children back and will then look at approaches to support their understanding in these areas.

Delegates will discover how to deliver discreet spelling instructions as well as how to create a word rich environment in which pupils can refine their skills and apply their learning in engaging contexts.

This year, the focus of this moderation session will be reading and writing. The session will provide an excellent opportunity for teachers to work together with colleagues across schools, to help to build a consistent understanding of the national curriculum standards and year group expectations. We will also use the sessions to promote good practice in building powerful assessment and formative feedback opportunities into everyday learning in order to plug gaps, build on existing learning and ensure progression in reading and writing skills.

It is essential that delegates bring along examples of pupils' work from their class. We will provide suggested assessment tasks for both reading and writing for teachers to use with the pupils in advance of the sessions.
