Code: EX109 Exclusions

This training session equips governors to be able to sit on a governors' Disciplinary Committee panel which is a statutory requirement in the case of certain types of school exclusion, including any permanent exclusion. We recommend that panel members are re-trained every 2 years.

Excluding a pupil involves a statutory process that governors should ensure they perform legally and effectively. There will be a mixture of tutor input, group activity/discussion and an opportunity to ask questions. Tutor Malcolm Leigh, Governance

Code: 19MAT/001S Getting mathematics right at Key Stage 3

No building is stronger than its foundations: a similar principle applies to the learning of mathematics – arguably more than in any other subject. For this reason, Key Stage 3 maths has never been more important: the training ground where understanding of many important concepts is developed and deepened.

This course will look at how to help students acquire this deep understanding, through the use of appropriate activities; the structure of schemes of work; and through the effective use of assessment.
