This course is designed for those who are new to the role of designated senior person (DSP) for child protection and have completed stage one safeguarding children training for school staff. The course explores the role and the responsibilities of the DSP. This course is for all schools in the Hertfordshire area.

How can we support our pupils to become more confident problem solvers? How can we teach them to reason in order to find a starting point to unfamiliar problems?
This practical course will support Year 5 and Year 6 teachers to develop an approach to problem solving grounded in curriculum expectations. It will consider the key skills required to solve problems including how to reason to find an entry point to unfamiliar problems. It will also consider how to support pupils to develop their reasoning so that they can effectively communicate their findings.

This course is aimed at new users of the Hertfordshire version of RM Finance Online who will be posting the financial transactions onto the system.
Day one will provide an introduction to the system. We will be looking at the coding structure in RM Finance Online and how to post simple income and expenditure transactions.
Day two will follow on from the topics covered on day one. We will look at how to post more complex items including payroll reports. We will look at setting up and using duplicate batching and how to correct any errors.
Day three will revisit the areas covered on days one and two and will be an opportunity for delegates to refresh their knowledge and improve their skills using RM Finance Online in a supported environment.

This course is designed for schools using RM Finance Online who complete their own transactions and are seeing differences on the Comprehensive System Reconciliation and need help to understand why they occur and how to fix them. This course will look at the different sections of the form and understand what they are designed to check. We will look at some of the most common errors and how to rectify these, including differences on the VAT section. Delegates will then be able to complete their own Comprehensive System Reconciliation using their latest school’s data with staff on hand to be able to support with solving the reasons for any variances.
Please note that we cannot guarantee that we will be able to resolve all system reconciliation errors on this course. Please also note that we will not be able to investigate variances on the purchase order section of the Comprehensive System Reconciliation and it is recommended that schools contact the Financial Services helpline for help with this.

The DfE, the new Ofsted framework and the mandatory curriculum for relationship education and health education all place a spotlight on mental health and wellbeing. This course will explore the principles and approaches that can deliver effective teaching to support mental health and emotional wellbeing across the primary school.

Written feedback is one of the activities that contributes significantly to teachers’ workload, but is it effective? This course aims to dispel the feedback myths, provide evidence-based strategies that teachers can introduce the very next day, and give practical common sense solutions to tackle the workload issue and improve learning and pupil progress.
This is one and a half day course. Delegates are expected to attend both sessions. This course is useful for both class teachers and teachers with responsibility for whole school teaching and learning who wish to develop a collaborative CPD and practice around feedback in their own school.
