Introduction to GDPR in terms of the role of the DPO. The aims of the session are to provide delegates with the knowledge of what the role of DPO entails.
Duties of the DPO, including:
1. obligations for GDPR compliance
2. monitoring compliance with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
3. understanding and managing internal data protection activities
4. data protection impact assessments
5. internal data audits
6. reporting of data breaches
7. dealing with requests for information
Steps to be taken to show compliance including:
1. documenting all activities
2. conducting a regular data audit
3. monitoring of an action plan
4. ensuring staff are aware of responsibilities
Five reasons why we should teach mental maths to our pupils:
1. it develops deep conceptual understanding, increasing their overall understanding of number
2. it relieves cognitive load and frees working memory allowing them to focus on new learning

4. it increases confidence in and enjoyment of maths

This course is aimed at KS1 teachers and is part of the suite of mental mathematics: the secret to success courses.
This course is for teachers who are new to, or returning to, teaching in Year 6.
We will explore the statutory requirements for assessing pupil’s attainment in the core subjects at Key Stage 2 this year and consider strategies for supporting pupils in their learning journey towards achieving the expected standards.
We will also consider how the Herts for Learning assessment resources, including the HfL writing year group ‘TAFs’, can help delegates to track pupils’ progress and support their planning and teaching throughout the year. (These materials are non-statutory and some schools may have adopted a different approach to assessment. The course will still be relevant even if that is the case.)
This course will support practitioners in gaining a strong understanding of the writing requirements from the National Curriculum programmes of study.
The course will firm up subject knowledge with a focus on grammar and spelling, as well as explore strategies, practical ideas and resources that can be used to enable pupils to secure age-related learning by the end of Lower Key Stage 2.
