Code: BMS/19/462/A Sustainable schools workshop

BUCKS EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP IS PROUD TO BE PART OF HERTS FOR LEARNING

The Business Management team at Herts for Learning (HfL) is offering a Sustainable Schools workshop to support financial management and efficiency in maintained schools. It is evident that pressure on school budgets is likely to be sustained in the short to medium term and the workshops are designed to consider this context.

While there have been recent Government announcements on additional funding for schools, the detail is not yet clear and we feel it is important that schools are supported through a challenging financial period.

Code: GOV/20/479/A Exclusions

This training session equips governors to be able to sit on a governors' Disciplinary Committee panel which is a statutory requirement in the case of certain types of school exclusion, including any permanent exclusion. We recommend that panel members are re-trained every 2 years.

Excluding a pupil involves a statutory process that governors should ensure they perform legally and effectively. There will be a mixture of tutor input, group activity/discussion and an opportunity to ask questions. Tutor Malcolm Leigh, Governance

Code: MAT/20/29/S Getting Mathematics right at Key Stage 3

No building is stronger than its foundations: a similar principle applies to the learning of Mathematics – arguably more than in any other subject.
Key Stage 3 Maths has never been more important: the training ground where understanding of many important concepts is developed and deepened.
This course will look at how to help students acquire this deep understanding, through the use of appropriate activities; the structure of schemes of work; and the effective use of assessment.

Code: DMS/20/385/A Intervention tracking in SIMS

This course will enable SLT, INCOs/SENCOs, behaviour and attendance managers to use SIMS to record the support and resources allocated to vulnerable pupils and track the cost and effectiveness of these resources. Schools will be able to monitor and gauge how these resources affect Key Performance Indicators. Provide evidence of Pupil Premium grant strategy, spending and effectiveness. Delegates will learn how to build a detailed evidence base of the interventions offered for disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils, and school attainment strategies. The cost of additional resources can be recorded, enabling tracking of the cost and effectiveness of each intervention.

Further analysis can be achieved to show the progress of various groups of pupils, i.e. Pupil Premium, SEN and school defined groups of pupils. The following reports are available in the Interventions module in SIMS to support progress monitoring and improve student outcomes: - School Intervention – showing interventions in place across the whole school - Student Intervention – giving details of interventions for individual pupils - Interventions Outcome Analysis – see how successful different types of interventions are across the whole school - Interventions Cost Analysis – showing cost per intervention and per pupil.
