This full day course is for new governors for schools, academies and MAT's. This course is very important for all new governors so that they can be as effective as possible in helping the governing board in its role to secure school improvement. Delegates benefit from the opportunity to network with new governors from other schools and academies.
We recommend that all new governors attend the ‘Induction for governors’ course within the first 3 months of being appointed. In particular new governors derive maximum benefit if they book onto a course which takes place after they have attended at least one governing board meeting.

This course is designed to ensure schools make the most of the valuable management information that has been collected as part of routine attendance registration. Attendance and punctuality is now part of the new Ofsted inspection framework, under the behaviour and safety key judgements. The course will enable participants to produce key attendance information for vulnerable groups as well as being able to track pupils with low attendance and persistent absentees. This information can be used to monitor and ultimately improve pupil achievement, based on the reasonable assumption that if a pupil is not attending school, they will be at a considerable disadvantage.Essential Information
This moderation cluster will enable delegates to validate their Early Years Foundation Stage profile judgements prior to statutory submission.
Delegates should bring examples of learning journals / evidence that supports judgements for at least three children of differing abilities. These should include a more-able child, a child working comfortably within the expected level and a child from a vulnerable group e.g. PPG, EAL, FSM, CLA etc. The process supports discussion and moderation that will enable practitioners to feel confident in making their 'best fit' judgements against the early learning goals (ELGs).
