Code: ASS/20/455/P Assessment moderation cluster for teachers in Years 5 and 6: cluster 3 - Stevenage

This year, the focus of this moderation session will be reading and writing. The session will provide an excellent opportunity for teachers to work together with colleagues across schools, to help to build a consistent understanding of the national curriculum standards and year group expectations. We will also use the sessions to promote good practice in building powerful assessment and formative feedback opportunities into everyday learning in order to plug gaps, build on existing learning and ensure progression in reading and writing skills.

It is essential that delegates bring along examples of pupils' work from their class. We will provide suggested assessment tasks for both reading and writing for teachers to use with the pupils in advance of the sessions. Information will be sent to delegates and also uploaded to the grid at: http://www.thegrid.org.uk/learning/assessment/ks2/moderationclusters.shtml

Code: MAT/20/219/P Developing effective fluency sessions in primary mathematics (Cancelled)

BUCKS EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP IS PROUD TO BE PART OF HERTS FOR LEARNING

Fluency sessions – the what, why, when and how.

A day of training which includes a complete suite of resources to support teachers back in school. Schools are aware of the need to ensure pupils are ‘fluent’ with their mathematics knowledge and skills. Many are establishing fluency sessions (also known as maths meeting or everyday fluency) to support this, but what does an effective session look like?

This one-day course will unpick the purpose of fluency sessions and outline a possible structure. Resources will be given which schools can use as a starting point. This includes 18 teacher PowerPoints, an introductory staff meeting for launching back in school and a guidance document, so that mathematics subject leaders can get going straight away with implementation. We will explore how to launch and implement fluency sessions effectively, so that they have maximum impact.
