Changes to printing of training materials...
As you may be aware, Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) has recently joined councils up and down the country in declaring a climate emergency. The time for thinking about change is over and at Herts for Learning (HfL), we believe it is important for us to join HCC in taking proactive action now.
As part of our commitment of ensuring both our financial and our environmental sustainability, we are currently developing a Corporate Social Responsibility statement, which will be shared with you shortly. Included in this statement is our aim to reduce our direct impact on the environment by actively managing our consumption of natural resources, recycling practices and carbon footprint and making best use of technology to ensure that digital is at the heart of what we do.
In order to meet this aim, we have already ceased all printing for internal use.
Further to this, from the autumn term, we will no longer be printing materials for any of our training and events, with the exception of in-class exercises where it is absolutely essential that printed copies be available. Where appropriate, pre-reading will be sent electronically to delegates prior to the session and presentations will be made available to attendees on the day via the CPD Hub.
We will be in a transition phase for the first couple of weeks of September, while we embed these new ways of working. This communication is to let you know this change is coming.
I know that you will recognise why we do not want to delay the implementation of these important changes and I trust that we can rely on your support in embracing these new ways or working.
If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact Mark Webb, Interim Head of Events at email@example.com.
